WE HAVE INITIATED DECARBONISATION PROJECTS
By adhering with commitment to the DECARB Project, promoted by Confindustria Emilia-Romagna, in collaboration with Intesa San Paolo and Nativa, Delicius first assessed its impacts in terms of climate-changing gas emissions related to its processes (Scope 1, 2 and 3) and then defined a strategic plan for improvement. This led to the development and presentation of the fully CO2 -compensated Anchovy line in 2022. Delicius has thus positioned itself at the forefront of the canned fish industry as the first producer with such an innovative sustainability initiative worldwide. The approach is based on the scientific measurement of emissions throughout the supply, production, distribution and disposal cycle, from cradle to grave approach and applying an LCA study to the entire supply chain of the specific product. With all possible improvements made to the process to decrease carbon dioxide generation, the overall effect was reduced to zero through equivalent compensation. Among the various options, Nativa specialist consultant pointed to the Safe Water project in Mozambique. By designing products with fully compensated CO2, the aim is to contain the increase in the average global temperature, which is responsible for several environmentally damaging phenomena including melting glaciers, rising sea levels, increasing heat waves and droughts, and increasing floods, storms and hurricanes.
